We’re a small crew, and we like it that way. Every technician who pulls up to a gate in Miami works under the same written standard: say the price before the work, show up when we said we would, and stand behind the repair for 365 days. No subcontracted strangers. No rotating cast of temps. The person who answers the phone knows the person who’s coming to your property, and that person knows gates. Since 2008, this location has been serving Miami under the Kingswell name, and the team below is why the trucks keep rolling out on time.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Dean Prescott, Owner
Dean founded this Portcullis location in 2008 and still rides along on difficult service calls because he’d rather see a gate problem with his own eyes than guess at it from a photo. He’s certified across all nine operator brands we service, including LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule. The 365-Day Done Right Promise was his idea, born after watching too many Miami homeowners get stuck with invoices for repairs that didn’t hold. When he’s not working, Dean spends Saturdays doing maintenance on his own driveway swing gate, mostly because his neighbors keep asking him to fix theirs.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been turning wrenches on gate systems for eleven years, the last seven with our Miami crew. His specialty is electric gate repair: control boards, safety sensors, and the wiring that gets cooked by South Florida lightning storms every summer. He holds factory certifications for LiftMaster and DoorKing operators, and he’s the one we send when a gate behaves intermittently and nobody else can figure out why. Marcus keeps a small notebook in the truck where he logs the strangest failure he’s seen each month. The lizard nest inside a Viking control box is still the entry to beat.
Elena R., Senior Installer
Elena handles our full gate installations, from digging post footings to setting the final swing speed on a new actuator, which is the motorized arm that physically pushes the gate open. She’s been with Portcullis Miami for six years and trained directly under Dean on the Kingswell installation standard: level posts, clean conduit runs, and a job site left neater than it started. Elena’s background includes commercial gate work in Doral and Hialeah, so she’s comfortable with taller, heavier gates and the stricter safety requirements that come with them. She’s also the crew’s designated Spanish speaker, which helps on job sites where technical explanations work better in two languages.
Sam W., Service Coordinator
Sam is the voice on the phone at 2 a.m. when a condo off Biscayne Boulevard calls because their slide gate is stuck halfway open and blocking the garage ramp. He’s been coordinating Miami service calls for four years and knows the city’s neighborhoods well enough to quote realistic arrival windows instead of vague promises. Sam’s job before this was dispatching HVAC trucks, so he understands what a homeowner wants to hear when something is broken: who’s coming, when they’ll arrive, and what it’ll cost. He keeps a map of Miami on his desk with pins for every job we complete, which sounds old-fashioned but works better than any app when half the city is under a thunderstorm.
One Standard, Every Job
People in Miami ask how we keep service consistent across different technicians and different days. The answer isn’t a training video. It’s a written rulebook that every Kingswell location follows, and this Portcullis location is signed onto it. We call it The Kingswell Way, and it has five commitments. First, you get the price in writing before a single bolt is turned. Second, the arrival window we give is the window we hit. Third, the job site gets left cleaner than we found it, including the gate track and the control box area. Fourth, the guarantee is written on the invoice, not mentioned casually in passing. Fifth, if the repair fails within 365 days, we come back at no charge. Every one of our technicians, from Marcus to Elena to the newest apprentice, carries that same checklist. This location is independently owned and operated, but the standard isn’t optional. It’s the reason we can send any of our people to any gate in Miami and know what the customer will get.
